The choice of NicTone is logical—its high elasticity and stretch coefficient allow for the creation of a tight seal around the cervical junction even without a Teflon support. Combined with the aggressive fit of B4, which physically pushes the perforation edges deeper into the sulcus, the result is a maximally clean working area.

This approach minimizes the amount of foreign material in the surgical field, which is critical for high-quality macro photography.

Technical advantages of the “clean” protocol (NicTone + B4)

  • Visual control: The absence of a Teflon bandage allows for a full view of the gingival margin of the Unica matrix. This allows for the video (especially in HDR) to clearly capture the moment the composite adapts to the tooth tissue without visual noise.
  • Sandblasting Resistance: NicTone’s tight fit, thanks to the latex’s “memory” properties, prevents aluminum oxide from penetrating beneath the gumline, providing ideal conditions for the adhesive stage of your protocol.
  • Simplifying Post-Processing: When the matrix edge is pressed only with the clamp and elastic bandage, the risk of creating “overhangs” at the clamp tabs is minimal, as nothing interferes with the tight contact between the matrix and dentin.
